Art Teacher Biography
Mindi was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma and was raised in a small town in Kansas. After graduating from Winfield High School in Winfield, KS, Mindi attended Kansas State University where she received her B.S. in Apparel & Textile Marketing. Mindi worked in the pharmaceutical/medical sales industry for many years before starting her career in art education.
Mindi has been an artist for many years and began drawing and painting as early as 5 years old. This artistic talent runs on her mother's side of the family. She has an aunt who is an art professor at the University of Sioux Falls in South Dakota and an identical twin sister who is also an elementary art teacher at Ravenwood Elementary in Kansas City, KS. There are also many other family members who paint and sell pottery online.
Mindi is specialized in advanced drawing and painting and also runs a side portrait photography and fine arts business in addition to teaching art. She has a love for tribal/boho art, Caribbean art, Haitian art, African art, coastal/sea life art, pop art, and cubism. She loves working with watercolor, acrylic, and, clay. Some of her favorite artists include, Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, and many other modern day artists.
In her free time, Mindi enjoys traveling, nature hiking, lake life, kayaking, yoga, dance, attending college football games, going to art fairs, watching movies, and of course drawing and painting. One of her goals in life is to inspire all of her students to find their inner artist.
